If you are looking for the least expensive filter, then a string filter is simply the lowest cost filter on the market.  While it does not have the dirt-carrying capacity of a pleated filter, it is very effective and economical at trapping solids.  String wound filters are generally made from made from a 100% polypropylene cord and can withstand temperatures over 140 degrees, up to 165 degrees F.  They are available in micron ratings from 1 micron to 100 microns, with the most popular sizes being 5 microns, 20 microns and 50 microns.  If you are unsure which string wound filter is best for you, call one of our Certified Water Specialists at 1-800-608-8792.
