When your water contains high levels of hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) and iron, you can end up with rusty stains on your driveways and walkways, and limescale deposits in your pipes and appliances. Even worse, acidic water can corrode the inside of your pipes, leaching out copper and leaving pipes weak. While there are different ways to treat each of these problems, a combination scale inhibitor and corrosion control solution is an effective, affordable treatment.
The iron, limescale, and corrosion control products that we offer at US Water System are designed to protect your pipes and your water treatment systems. Polyphosphate water treatment – typically, a blend of orthophosphate and polyphosphate – is very effective at stabilizing the water and helping to control corrosion. These blends keep minerals, including iron and calcium, suspended in the water so that they cannot stick to pipes and appliances, acting as an effective limescale inhibitor or scale reducer. This is referred to as "sequestering, " and also minimizes rust stains and hard water stains.
These chemicals also create a protective coating on metal and plastic pipes, helping to reduce corrosion. Acidic water can leach minerals like copper and lead out of pipes and cause pitting, which weakens your water system. This helps keep your water safe and healthy.
All scale inhibitor and corrosion control chemicals sold by US Water Systems are NSF Certified and meet NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for drinking water additives. When used correctly, they are safe for residential, commercial, and industrial potable water use.
It's important to use only the appropriate form and dose of all scale and corrosion control chemicals. Whether you choose a crystal cartridge, a powder, or a liquid, it must be added to your water treatment system as directed. Powdered products, for example, must be mixed with water before use. You may also require a chemical metering pump or other equipment for correct dosing.
