Switched From Easy Water to a Salt System

Question: "I'm not a plumber or did any big research, just a consumer that purchased an Easy Water over 2 years ago after our very old water softener started leaking, thinking the saltless feature was more environmentally responsible, cheaper to operate, and healthier than drinking salt water. Even though our plumber did an annual flush, our pipes kept getting so built up with scale that the flow rate of our tankless water heater was so low, the heater often wouldn't kick on when taking a shower, unless we would turn on the water at the sink at the same time. We just now purchased a traditional water softener, and the difference is amazing. Hot showers again, with actual water pressure, no calcium deposits on the faucets, I can comb my hair easier. We definitely wasted our money with Easy Water." - Irmi Swan

The Water Doctor Replied: I saw a recent study that tested systems like the the Easy Water and found that they were around 40% efficient. The same study also found that systems similar to our Green Wave MEP models were over 95% effective in preventing scale. Of course, water softeners that use salt are also very effective at removing and eliminating scale. We are one of the few companies that sell both salt-free and salt-based water treatment systems. Both can be effective, depending upon what you want to accomplish.

I’m a plumber who has installed several easywater systems and many softeners. Haven’t had any call back and customers have noticed a difference with easy water and other such binder systems. I always ask the customer if they like the slimy feeling when washing with soap. If they do, I tell them they like softened water. Some don’t want to purchase a RO system to process sodium out of there water after softening it. I tell them they need a binder system. They all work to a degree. It depends on what the customer wants to deal with and its application.

Another binder I came across is NUVOH20, a citrus water conditioner.

I plan to have my water tested by our county environmental lab. Once I know what is/is not in the water, I am hoping to find a system that works! We have had system, probably based on salt, since 1986. We still have scale build up, “rings” in the toilets, and recently a scale-like-white spots in the dish washer. I figure it is time for a new one. I have been reading blogs, consumer reviews, etc.; trying to educate myself so I don’t fall prey to the snake oil sellers. Do you know of a source who can scientifically advise me, once I have the test results in hand?
thanks,

So, would you recommend the Nextscale system? Or another brand? I am having trouble finding a definitive answer to the salt/no salt question. My provider has both and my water meets the levels for either

We purchased a home that is 2 years old last July 2016. Noticed the scale buildup was terrible in our house so instead of going with a salt water softner, like we had for our water that came from a well at previous home, we decided to try Easy Water. Biggest mistake of our life, has not stopped any scale build up and it has been 5 months. My husband has talked to representatives several times and they told him our system is working right since the light was on. Called today and asked if they could remove for us. We are going back to salt water softner, never had problems before at old address and we were on a well. I would not suggest that anyone buy. It is a waste of money!!!!

Dear Easy Water Customer Care:

I have two other e-mails from the IP Address you just emailed from. The first one says:

WHy do you never discuss EasyWater? Its always Greenwave. These guys have been doing this since 1986.” From mr. D.

The second one says:

I don’t know about the Hydrocare or Pelican systems, but I have an EasyWater and I have had a good experience with it.

I don’t know what you are looking to get out of a system, but I wanted to clean up the limescale buildup. It has done that. I have water pressure in my shower again and my dishwasher is cleaned out. I also have more suds in the shower than before and I’ve cut back on the amount of laundry soap I use. I did not have a salt-softener before so I don’t know how they compare, but compared to not having anything, the Easywater is great.

I know they have a 90-day money back guarentee too. I like mine, its done everything they said it would. From Erin.

Now, IF you are really Easy Water Customer Care, I presume the other two e-mails are also from Easy Water Customer Care and it appears that you have people there “pretending” to be customers.

That seems very deceptive to me.

Paul,

I feel the same way, but many people want to go salt-free and I help them regardless.
