Commercial reverse osmosis systems in the 2,000 gallons per day to 8,000 gallons per day arena are some of the most popular systems on the planet. If you Google “commercial reverse osmosis systems” you with come up with 6.4 million results! If that seems like a lot, let me assure you that most of the listings are NOT commercial reverse osmosis systems.
While I do not know of any set definition for “commercial reverse osmosis system” I do know of one thing that really makes a reverse osmosis system a “true commercial system.” That is a centrifugal multi-stage pump! When I see so-called “commercial RO systems with a diaphragm or even rotary vane pumps, I just shake my head and roll my eyes.
I would be OK calling them a “lite commercial” reverse osmosis system, but to qualify as a true “commercial reverse osmosis system (in my humble opinion), I think it has to be capable of running under harsh and heavy water usage conditions and a diaphragm pump or rotary vane pump are not to be operated that way. They are best operated intermittently, while a centrifugal pump is designed for continuous duty.
Use A Pump That Lasts
Light duty pump for intermittent applications. Commonly used for under-sink RO applications.
Rotary Vane Pump
Standard pump for residential RO applications where continuous operation is not needed.
Multi -Stage Centrifugal Pump
Heavy duty comercial grade pump engineered for continuous operation over a long period of time.
The US Water Systems Patriot line of reverse osmosis systems have become exceedingly popular over the past couple of years and yes, they do use a Heavy-Duty Franklin Stainless Steel Centrifugal Pump. It also uses stainless steel membrane housings which will never rust and last virtually forever. The Patriot line is available in three models:
2,000 GPD with (3) 2.5” x 40 Membranes
4,000 GPD with (2) 4.0 x 40 Membranes
8,000 GPD with (4) 4.0 x 40 Membranes
The US Water Systems Patriot Reverse Osmosis System immediately catches your eye with all of its chrome and stainless steel, but it’s a lot more than just a pretty face. Underneath all that chrome and stainless is the heart of a beast! A beast with respect to energy savings, a beast with Energy-Mizer membranes and a beast with incredible longevity. It recovers up to 80% of the water used to minimize waste and the membranes save up to 40% on energy because they operate at 80 to 100 psi, not 150-250 psi like some models.
They all have built-in RO controllers and two pre-filters with 5- and 1-micron filters. Each filter has 36 square feet of pleated polyester media, which is the most surface area of any 4.5” x 20” filter! We do this to extend the life of membranes and protect the system. By the way, the Patriot RO comes with a 3-Year Warranty which is precisely 300% more than most competitors. We believe that if you build them better, you can guarantee them better… and we do!
If space is a problem, we can conserve space by allowing you to mount it on the wall, so as not to utilize any floor space. It has a bracket that is easily mounted on the wall and then the RO system hangs over the bracket for easy installation. It weighs over 200 pounds so you would not want to have to hold it up while you drilled holes. We have that covered for you.
The floor-mount system is just like the wall-mount system, except that we have a heavy-duty powder-coated frame that the system mounts on. It has six (6) heavy-duty casters so as to be able to move the system easily as it weighs around 400 pounds. If you have space, then the floor mount model is the way to go. It also works as well as it looks… maybe even better!
At first blush, the “turnkey floor-mount system” looks almost identical to the Floor-Mount System, but then you will notice that there is a lot more than immediately meets the eye.
The turnkey RO system is a“plug and play” system that does not require a plumber or a contractor for installation. The Patriot Turnkey Commercial Reverse Osmosis System adds additional benefits by way of prefiltration. Proper prefiltration for reverse osmosis systems has been proven to significantly extend the life of the RO membranes. The Patriot Turnkey Commercial Reverse Osmosis System can extend membrane life by up to 3x as long as the competition. The secret is our prefiltration, which includes the following:
Granular Activated Carbon Backwashing Pre-Filter to remove chlorine and chemicals
Catalytic Carbon Backwashing Pre-Filter to remove chloramine
5 Micron Magna Pre-Filter with 36 sq/ft of media (usually change yearly)
1 Micron Magna Pre-Filter with 36 sq/ft of media (usually change yearly)
Hyper-Guard Antiscalant System (prevents membrane scaling better than a softener)
The Patriot Turnkey Commercial Reverse Osmosis System also includes a Grundfos booster pump for re-pressurization out of an atmospheric tank and a ultraviolet disinfection systems so as to eliminate any waterborne or airborne bacteria from the storge tank. A typical installation with a tank may look like the system pictured to the right. We have tanks available in all sizes, from 140 gallons to 1,000 gallons and up! Best of all, they are in-stock and ready to ship!
Let’s face it: You want a reliable and efficient commercial reverse osmosis system and the Patriot is certainly all that, however it also looks as good as it works, making it ideal for applications where the system is highly visible to customers such as breweries, restaurants, water stores, labs, and the like. Anywhere it is installed, it looks impressive! Frequently, businesses have put the system on display in a glassed –in room to show their commitment to high quality.
