NO disrepsect, but isn’t your Greenwave a next filtration system by another name? I’ve personally sold & installed over a hundred no-salt water conditioners assembled by the companies you talk about on your site and I will tell you from experience there is no way to scientifically prove that they work, not even the boiling water in a pan test. We always go back 60 days after the system was installed to drain the water heater and clean the aerators on the plumbing fixtures but we’ve never seen any evidence of scale removal. What we do find and get complaints about is soap scum in the shower, staining of tiles around water area’s and a white cake buildup in their diswasher. I was a big believer in these systems when they first came out and most of the people we’ve installed for like them but i’ve never had anyone prove to me that they do what they say they will.
The Water Doctor Replied: Steve, initially our Green Wave used nextScaleStop media, but after many, many failures and the failure of the company to stand in back of it, we started doing something different.  Currently, they are having failures all over the country.  Our MEP Media works as advertised.  The biggest difference in the media is that our new media has a hard ceramic coating which prevents "over expansion" of the media.  The nextScaleStop media is much softer and seems to over-expand with use, causing it to turn to mush.  I was very disappointed in the nextScaleStop meda which is also used in the Watts One-Flow system.  I personally know of many failures of these systems - up to the current time. You say that you were disappointed in the soap scum buildup and the buildup in the dishwasher.  If you expect no soap scum buildup or perfect dishes, you have to use a salt-regenerated water softener.  A water softener removes the calcium and magnesium from the water and replaces it with sodium, which is a soft mineral and increases the sudsing of soaps, cleansers and detergents.  A salt-free conditioner doesn't do that.  It will prevent scale, but there will be buildup of soap scum and calcium in the shower.  Here's the difference - it wipes off without scrubbing or the use of chemicals. The only benefit of a salt-free conditioner (applied properly) is the prevention of scale.  The benefits of soft water don't apply, and you don't get the slick feeling you do with soft water.   However, you need to understand that for every person who like the "slick feeling" there are five who don't.  At US Water Systems, we sell more water softeners than salt-less water conditioners, but the numbers are close. The best advice I can give anyone is NEVER BUY A SALT FREE WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM WHOSE PRIMARY BUSINESS IS SALT-LESS WATER TREATMENT.  Most of those people are just salesmen (or worse).  The Green Wave salt free water systems have passed the industry DVGW standard certification, and is the only one I recommend. You need to deal with a Water Treatment Professional.  A salt free water conditioner is only part of what we do at US Water. Oh, and if you have a salt-free water conditioner, use Lemishine in the dishwasher for perfect dishes.

Hi Mark, I've been looking into a salt-free conditioner for our well water (19 GPG) to get rid of scaling issues as I'm not really interested in a true softener system because of the sodium. However, the idea of filming caused by the previously-solublized and now precipitated calcium/magnesium sounds undesireable (although better than what I deal with now) and I have to wonder how that affects etching of glass with use of a dishwasher (as well as the need to clean the powdery residue). The GreenWave system uses a pre-filter (I'm assuming this is just to remove any sediment prior to introduction to the media), so why not have a replaceable post-filter unit that traps the nano-crystals to remove minerals at the source? I would imagine that the residual scale build-up left in the plumbing would dissolve in the decalcified water without the presence of the precipitated minerals quite nicely, right? Thanks, George

Thanks, George</em> <strong>The Water Doctor Replied:</strong> George, The etching problem and the spotting in a dishwasher is totally eliminated with the use of Lemishine. Insofar as using a filter to trap the nano-crystals: It simply doesn't work. A nano filter plugs up too quick (minutes). Reverse Osmosis will work, but is super expensive.

I ended up here because I surfed a certain keyword and I'm happy I did. I was looking for information for a college paper that I need to write and you write about the same topics here.
