The Connection Between Obesity and Clean WaterTHERE ISN'T ONE! In fact, the odds are, that a person will not be obese if they don't drink pop or fruit juices (including the "diet types). Drinking clean, pure water is a major step towards eliminating obesity. According to the CDC, (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) obesity costs the US people over $150 Billion dollars a year! Childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. It has been reported by the CDC that as many as 1/3 of children are obese. Water plays a huge role in eliminating obesity, such as lowing caloric intake, increasing cognitive function and improving overall health. Put into plain terms, water is filling and therefore limits the amounts of sugary beverages one consumes and by drinking plenty of water, you will have less room for food. Drinking water helps normalize body temperature, lubricates and cushions joints, helps eliminate wastes and protects sensitive tissues like the spinal cord. Also, a glass of water has ZERO calories and a sugar-sweetened soda drink has up to 240 calories. I know people that drink 8 to 10 sodas a day. I'm not even going to comment on the rest of the health implications (like diabetes), but look at the useless calories, and if you think artificially sweetened sodas are better because they have no calories, well you should do some research about the dangers of artificial sweeteners. Really! The New Year is rolling in and the two best things you can do for yourself is (1) Exercise regularly; and (2) drink a lot more water. Now, there is a caveat to the water: MAKE SURE IT IS CLEAN, HEALTHY WATER! A home reverse osmosis system for around $200 can meet that need for you. Some of you spend $200 a month on Cable TV - how about spending $200 this year on your health? Here are a few tips to help you consume more water and be healthier:
- Carry a water bottle with you and fill it from your home reverse osmosis system.
- Substitute water for your favorite beverage.
- Freeze ice with clean water or hook up your refrigerator icemaker and water dispenser to you RO system (you many need a high-pressure reverse osmosis system to do that).
- Add a little lime or lemon to the water if you like the taste - it will help you drink more.
- Order water when you dine at a restaurant - it's cheaper... and healthier.
