This is a question we get many times a day. Water softeners are one of the following: systems that use the ion exchange process with salt; reverse osmosis systems; deionization systems; or distillation systems to produce water that is below 1 grain of hardness per gallon (GPG). In the interests of full disclosure, I am [...]

Nearly everyone we talk to says that they have bad water. Many say their water is the worst that we can imagine. While it seems so to many of them, they really have no point of reference as to how bad their water really is. They just know that they don’t like it and that [...]

I am an avid reader of Seth Godin’s Blog (it’s worth the price of admission) and read this today: Everybody knows everything William Goldman famously pointed out that before Hollywood releases a picture, nobody knows anything about how it’s going to do. It’s such a black art that there are no real clues, yet every [...]

Right off the bat, I have to give this disclaimer: US Water really isn’t an “internet” company. We are a highly professional, greatly experienced water treatment company with technical support by Certified Water Specialists 365 days a year, from 8 AM until 11 PM, that happens to sell on the internet, but in reality we [...]

Water softeners add some sodium to the water. The amount of sodium a water softener adds to tap water depends on the “hardness” of the water. Hard water contains large amounts of calcium and magnesium. Most water softeners remove the calcium and magnesium and replace them with sodium. The higher the concentration of calcium and magnesium, the more sodium needed to soften the water. Even so, the added sodium doesn’t add up to much.

You might want to re-think that. Maybe you have heard good things about Filox or Pyrolox or for that matter, Oxylox, Adox, Catalox, Birm or Greensand Plus, and you are thinking about using one of these systems for your water problems. I would strongly advise you to think again. The side effects are bad and [...]

Go to any website that sells any type of water treatment and once you get there, click on “about us.” What are they? What are they about? Who are they? What do you really know about them? Really, who are they? In most cases, you are going to read this Boilerplate BS (that’s exactly what [...]

At US Water we sell Green Wave Salt Free Water Conditioners. There is also a company called Pelican that sells what we believe is essentially the same thing, although they call it a “salt-free water softener” even though it does not soften the water or even approach the threshold of what would be considered “soft [...]

Soap scum is a common source of clogs in bathtub drain systems. While it is not solid, it can solidify after it goes down the drain, gradually building up on your drain’s walls. As it does this, it can also stick to anything else passing through your drain, such as hair, making your other potential clogs into real clogs more quickly.
